Katie Adams was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario and attended Lakehead University in the Concurrent Education program, receiving an HBA-BEd diploma in the Intermediate-Senior division with teachables in English and History. She has also completed her Reading Specialist additional qualification through Lakehead University and has completed the Alternative Education additional qualification through Nipissing University. She has worked for the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council at Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School in Thunder Bay for five years. In addition to classroom teaching, she has worked as the Literacy Lead at DFC high school for the past four years and she is a certified facilitator of Pearson Education Canada’s Stepping Out Literacy workshop series. Darby Starratt was born and raised in Hudson, ON (near Sioux Lookout) and graduated from Carleton University with an Honours Bachelor degree in History and English. She then returned to Northwestern Ontario to complete her Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University. Following her passion for education in the north, Darby started her teaching career at Pelican Falls First Nations High School. She currently teaches a variety of subjects including History, English and Leadership. She is also the Literacy Lead at Pelican Falls and a certified facilitator of Pearson Education Canada’s Stepping Out Reading and Viewing workshop.
