About Me, Skype, and Other Stuff
I teach English as a Second Language part-time to adult immigrants. I have a TEFL certificate. Most of my students are from Central and South America, and most do not have a high school diploma. They are great students; they are all eager to learn.

I manage a technology startup during the day. My technology background has helped me as a teacher. If you ever have a technology question, always feel welcome to ask me. I'll help you as much as I can.

I've begun using the Internet and related services to teach ESL. I use Skype, a free program to let me talk to and teach students from across the globe. I have students from China and Colombia. Skype also offers a variety of inexpensive services to build upon its free voice communication program. I describe these in my blog, The Digital Schoolhouse. Click here to read the article.

My goal this semester is to teach my students writing by creating a magazine as a class project. I'm planning to use either a blog or wiki to accomplish this.

I'm interested in talking with other teachers. I'll check out the different groups and tools TeacherLingo offers.

Always feel free to share you comments with me.

Sincerely,
Alan

Allan,

I really think you have a great idea, designing a magazine can be alot of fun, and the fact that you have students all over the world, it can be a global mag, with highlights from all over.

Just emagin what students can do with it.

Hope everything works out well, you should let us know where and if we can see the magazine?

Erika
