Three Cups of Tea - Initial Thoughts
I started reading Three Cups of Tea. As expected, its a good read!

The first thing that comes to mind as I read this book (and that came to mind when I read Leaving Microsoft to Change the World) is how little is necessary to live.  It makes you think about what is really important in life, to really understand the difference between things that I need and things that I want.

This is a good reminder for me. It will be important if I do decide to create a non-profit. Things that help the non-profit are things that I'll need and things that don't are the things that I will want.

I also found the descriptions of the Balti language interesting. For example, there are no tenses in the this language.
"His fluid sense of time made pinning down the exact sequence of many events in this book almost impossible, as did interviewing the Balti people with whom he works, who have no tenses in their language  and as little attachment to linear time as the man they call Dr. Greg."   pg. 4

"And the Balti had as many names for rock as the Inuit have for snow." pg. 22
I've always found these types of facts interesting. Not only does it remind me that the grammars of languages are indeed   different, but that languages illustrate how people or a culture think about "their worlds".
