I used to love reading Weekly Reader when I was a kid. Back then, bringing $.50 to school was a big deal, but my parents always managed to come up with the money. Weeklyreader.com provides some cool free activities for students and teachers. If you click on "more news", you will find an archive of stories with some great links that provide extra information. Interesting vocabulary words are highlighted in the articles, and give the definitions if you click on them. These stories would be a great way for students to read independently or conduct research for reports. I also found some pretty cool math games and word searches. This site is definitely worth exploring.
