My family/ My Day theme

During the “My Family/ My day” Theme, I taught by repeating a few simple phrases explaining a child’s day. “I wake up.” “I get up.” “I get out of bed.” ... see appendix D As I said each phrase, I would make a unique action for each. After they became able to repeat well, I would do each action and they would say it, with help at first, later with only the prompt of the visual cue. I expanded this to include everything from waking up to going to bed, using about 20 phrases in total. Many were repeated such as “I get on the bus” came up both to come to school and to go home.
