It is interesting to see how after a study it shows that schools that used a
new software program instead of the traditional method did no better on the
test compare to schools without the study. Does this mean school will just go
back to the traditional method or will they continue to try and change technology?
I predict that they will continue working with technology to make it more
effective.

Court: MySpace postings are free
speech
|
By Charles Wilson, Associated Press
April 2007
I find this very interesting how a student got into trouble
for what they posted on myspace about their school. This is crazy, but what do
schools do when issues like this come up. To take a student to court is
extreme, but I guess a school has to do something to protect the school.

A Digital Decade
Technology Counts looks back, and ahead, after 10 eventful years.
With technology growing, so is the assistance available. The
federal government has just created the education rate or known as E-rate. This
is a program of telecommunications discounts that helps provide more aid to
disadvantaged schools and helps furnish billions of dollars to help get schools
up the speed. I think this is a very helpful program for schools. With
technology growing many schools will need the help.
More students getting laptops instead of

Louisiana high school becomes latest to switch to an all-digital curriculum
From eSchool News staff and wire service reports

Wow!!
I did not realize some high schools are moving toward a digital curriculum.
Students will be carrying laptops instead of textbooks. This school in Louisiana is able to due
this through funds which have been raised since hurricane Katrina. I think this
will be interesting to see how many other schools follow in their footsteps.

White House 2008: MySpace sets itself up as hub for young
voters
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Myspace has grown in the last year immensely. People are able
to set up profiles of themselves for others to view. This in the future is
going to have an impact on young voters. They will be able to see and read
about who they can vote for. MySpace is a place for people to get known, but
like anything else you must be careful.
More video games, fewer books at schools?

As we look at education through a student’s point of view
over the best way to learn. Students like video games and would be more excited
to learn through them. I think you can use games, but as for anything in
modification. Students need the opportunity to learn through other styles as
well. More video games in school is an idea to help the student become more
excited to learn.

This is an amazing way for students to get involved into a
specific subject. By writing their own lyrics students can have fun and learn
reading and even history. To add extra to the lyrics you can easily use
technology to spice up their productions. This is a wonderful way for students
to become involved.

Technology has grown so quickly throughout the years. It has not been that long ago since several schools did not have internet access. Now all most all school have this access and several have it in their classrooms. Students are expected to be growing with technology and it is the school which must guide them. This can be difficult due to the access students may or may not have a home. The technology continues to grow and we must help the students along the way.
U.S.-born don't learn the language easily

I never realized some of the problems we are having with
English as a second language. It is very sad that many students who speak
English as a second language are struggling with becoming fluent with it even
by high school. This makes it hard for those students to keep up and to
understand new concepts. Hopefully we can do some to help our students.
Details of legislation unveiled on eve of Bush trip to Gulf Coast

I think this is a wonderful plan to help the schools who have been affected by the hurricanes. In the next five years to bring 250 million dollars into the school can make a huge difference. Also paying the teachers to stay in this area gives them a reason to try and start over. I think this is very important and a great plan.

3. Education Podcast with John Merrow
Episode Title: Small Schools
Date:1/30/2007
Episode Number:13
Reflection: This pod cast is very neat with Deborah Meier. What do you like for in a school? She depends on what her role is as a parent, administrator, or others. Throughout the pod cast reflects on the changes over the years. One thing I really liked is how she states you learn the most from informal conversations with students of hearing. This allows you to see where the students are and what they needs are. This is when you really learn about them. Another point is to model adulthood well so that they look forward to growing up.
