I find that confronting liars, cheaters and theives only means that they'll get better at what they do!  I often just pick up their papers quietuly during a test and never say a word.  I just put a zero or 50 on it and return it later.  I never thought about what would happen if a parent called about it because I'm sure not a single kid has taken such a paper home.  I never say cheated or cheating or cheater..we jsut both know.  I had one student correct wrong answers on a graded paper and tell me I'd made a msitake.  I thanked him and then in ink would record his wrong answers next to his penciled answers.  I never said cheater but just found a way around his trick.  He stopped ( in my class) so I had to tell my team members to do this as well.  No one ever said he was cheating but he knew we knew.  I don't want anyone to be a better cheater just because of me.
