project collaboration - need help
I have a tech-integrated classroom and would like the students to do a project with students in another state (or for that matter another country). I would prefer the classroom to be seventh or eighth grade. Please let me know if you are interested. I teach in an urban Phoenix middle school with a predominately Latino population. It would be fun if we could do a project that allows students from two distinctly different backgrounds to work together
Project Ideas
- A dialogue about their life stories - where they come from, what they like, etc. - This could then lead into a small project about globalization (and how we share a common global culture) and regionalism (how we are fragmented into smaller sub-cultures).
- A project about racial issues that would include polling people, reviewing media, etc.
- Something with the upcoming elections (beyond just the standard class taking a straw poll)
- A project on a social issue. The students could review how the same social issue affects each of their communities.
If this interests you and you teach seventh or eighth grade and have access to computers, please let me know. My e-mail is socialvoice@gmail.com.
