We went on a field trip on Friday. Our original trip was scheduled for over a month ago and it rained so much the outdoor museum cancelled. We re-scheduled and went on Friday. I got an email this weekend from a parent reaming me out for not remembering that over a month ago she told me her daughter needed to sit in the front of the bus. Now, the bus was huge. Our class ended up the only class on this bus and so it was fairly empty. I did not assign seats I wanted the kids to have a positive experience. There were plenty of empty seats and especially at the front of the bus. This child chose her own seat and never said a word about needing to sit in the front due to headaches. She just sat there both ways with her friends.
I was furious. That parent blamed ME because her child sat at the back of the bus. I have 35 students! For heaven's sake, the kid is 10 years old and she can't be held responsible for remembering she needs to sit in the front? She couldn't come to me and ask to sit in the front and remind me that 6 weeks ago her mom sent me a note attached to the FIRST permission slip, which I threw away because they were invalid? There are just some parents who need to be sat in a corner.
