Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

I don't do Glitter any more!

I forgot why I hate doing art in my room.  They now have my glitter all over the place.  I even set it up so only a few could come at a time and they still made a huge mess.  They just poor out the glitter and didn't sprinkle it and it is a disaster.    Now all the colors are totally mixed up.  I am sad, disgusted, ticked off, angry at the waste all at the same time.  Why don't they have any respect for anyone or anything?

What about all of the markers that never quite get back their caps?  That's hard to deal with too!

And the glue that they NEVER close the lids on?  How about the paper that never reaches the trash can?  Couldn't we go on and on about the failings of our students.  I was told that you actually have to TEACH kids to close the lid on glue and etc.  They don't do it on their own.  I think next year I will have a list of rules they must follow to use the art supplies.

About MysteryTeacher

I am 53 years old and have been teaching for 20 years this year. I have two daughters and two grandaughters and two son-in-laws, all of whom I adore. I love to travel with friends but I am now saving for retirement in about 14 years. I am becoming technologically educated. Since digital is the 21st century than I believe that teachers should too. We need to be educated enough to understand our students. I have a teaching degree, a masters degree, an ESL endorsement and a Gifted endorsement.
