Mysterious Teaching

Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

94 Degrees and Rising...

It was hot today and we had Field Day.  We were outside from 11:10 until 2:00.  Then we had to clean up really fast and get to the busses.  I am exhausted.  We have until Friday to Teach. (Yeah, that's right!  We have to teach.)  I am teaching them how to pack boxes to move into the new building.  I don't want to spend my summer out here 30 miles from my house packing this stuff up.  And do they provide boxes?  No.  They provided that we should go to the stores and collect our own. They don't even have boxes that close.  I don't want them.  That means I have to go buy boxes. You wonder why the temp is up around here?

I have to go get my car checked out.  I am using way more gas than I should be.  And at these prices, I need all the help I can get.

I have moved classes and schools many times.  When they did provide boxes, the boxes were grocery store variety and probably had bugs in them.  Good luck with your move!

I also have packed several times.  Boxes have never been provided.  It is assumed that we will find our own packing materials.  Of course, you hope that when the boxes are moved from one room to another they are handled gently.  It is acknowledged that that might not be the case.  Any fragile items should be brought home for the summer.

Your field day sounds great.  We have field day from 9 to 2:30 with a 40 minute break for lunch.  It is a very long, hot day!

About MysteryTeacher

I am 53 years old and have been teaching for 20 years this year. I have two daughters and two grandaughters and two son-in-laws, all of whom I adore. I love to travel with friends but I am now saving for retirement in about 14 years. I am becoming technologically educated. Since digital is the 21st century than I believe that teachers should too. We need to be educated enough to understand our students. I have a teaching degree, a masters degree, an ESL endorsement and a Gifted endorsement.
