I don't understand it. This is the fourth week of school and we are testing the crap out of our students. We started with a Math inventory which we had to turn the scores in to the district. Then it was a reading inventory, DIBLES, and Children's progress. Today, we had to do a writing sample and we will grade them together and turn those scores into the district too. As soon as we are done, at the end of the month, it all starts again with DIBLES progress monitoring. I know we have regular tests along the way too but they don't disrupt the class like these other mandatory tests do. Then of course, we have student council elections, fund raisers, and who knows what else? Four weeks and we still haven't had a "normal" week. I don't remember this happening all the time when I first started teaching.
How do we teach everything we are supposed to teach if we are constantly interrupted with these tests? We have a district curriculum map and we are supposed to make sure we follow it. However, they did not take into account the testing that takes up all the time. My team is already behind. I don't know if we can catch up either. This is frustrating for new teachers.
Do other schools around the country have as many disruptions as we seem to be having?
