Mysterious Teaching

Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

I heard what you said!

I had to take the day off because I had two different appointments.  I got my hearing aid.  I am shocked at all the sounds I was missing just because one ear was moderately deaf.  I can hear everything around me.  I can't wait until I get around people and can hear what they say and not repeat Huh?  all the time.  I am so excited.

I wonder what will happen in class on Monday when I can hear the kids whispering.  It will be so cool to be able to hear the quiet students when they talk to me.  I am soooo excited.

It is a new kind that helps block out background noise and enhances the talking voice.  I can actually hear the clicking of the keys as I type this.  The Audiologist thought I would be bothered by all the noises but I am not.  I can tell where sound is coming from now.  Before, I had to look around and turn my head so my good ear could pick up the sound and I could locate it.

When people call my name or say good morning, I could never tell where the voice was coming from.  Now I can.  This is so cool.  I recommend anyone who even thinks they have stuffed ears from allergies to go to a doctor and find out.  I always thought mine was allergies for years now.  It wasn't.  I actually had significant bone damage in my ears.

It's a whole new world!  :)

Wow!  That is so exciting.  It reminds me of when I first got my glasses.  I was so surprised at all of the things I had been missing.
