Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

Geek or Nerd Ball!

I was on duty this morning and I began watching a small bunch of boys and girls playing basket ball on the same court as another large group.  I mean, same baskets and everything.  They were just playing along oblivious to the other kids playing around them.

They were the little smarties in the 4th grade.  They are learning to play basket ball in PE and were practicing.  I don't know if they had ever really played before but they didn't look like it.  They would shoot wild and sometimes the ball went totally the wrong way.  They fell over, and rolled around on the concrete.  It was like watching a cartoon.  It was really cute and funny.  No one got hurt but they were certainly trying their hardest to hit a basket.  No one did in the entire time I watched.  Yet they all high fived as they walked off the court after the bell.

I wish all sports were like that.  Playing for the fun of playing?  That is why it is called "play."
