We have a new curriculum director and she is fantastic.  She is interesting and she keeps her classes engaging and engaged.  I love her.  I have been taking classes from her in the evenings.  It means I have to stay until 5:00 and don't get home until around 7:30 or 8:00.  But, I love the classes. 

She taught our afternoon workshop today and I told her I didn't think I was going to make it to the class tonight.  She said, "Oh, good!"  I was shocked.  I asked why good?  She said,  I keep her on her toes and she has to work a lot harder when I am in the class because I have so much experience and ask such experienced questions.  Now she can relax and teach the new teachers who are supposed to be in the class.

I guess that is a real compliment.  However, I reminded her that no matter how experienced a teacher is, they often need to be reminded of things they take for granted, forgot, or never learned.  I think she is an excellent teacher and I always enjoy her classes even though I do know most of what she is teaching.  It sort of refreshes my outlook.

I guess I do understand where she is coming from.  I tend to do the same thing to the tech teacher of teachers.  I have taken the classes many many times but I always learn something new or it so happens that I am finally ready to use something they taught before and I didn't get because I didn't know how I would use it. I will use Excel as an example.  I used to make everything on Word and I finally discovered the possibilities of Excel.  It is much easier to use now that I have taken the class 10 times and am ready to use it.

My students keep me on my feet so it is only fair that the administrators have to be kept on theirs.  But, I was too tired to go tonight.  So... she is off the hook.  I hope she had a really good class tonight.
