Mysterious Teaching

Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

Home schooled kids serviced by pros?

There is a movement afoot that people who homeschool their children MUST have certification.  I mean...they must be certified teachers.  You can't be just a mom who decides she is going to keep her kids home because she is mad at the schools.  You now have to be a certified teacher and legal in the state in order to teach your kids at home.

Man, I would NEVER have taught my own kids at home.  It was hard enough being a Mom!  I can't imagine being their teacher too.  You would have to be qualified in every subject and at every grade level to do it.  Algebra would put a stop to me.  I could probably keep up in the rest of the areas, but not Math.  And to NOT get paid for doing all that work after I was certified??? I THINK NOT!

What do you think about making home school parents get their teaching credentials?

About MysteryTeacher

I am 53 years old and have been teaching for 20 years this year. I have two daughters and two grandaughters and two son-in-laws, all of whom I adore. I love to travel with friends but I am now saving for retirement in about 14 years. I am becoming technologically educated. Since digital is the 21st century than I believe that teachers should too. We need to be educated enough to understand our students. I have a teaching degree, a masters degree, an ESL endorsement and a Gifted endorsement.
