Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

My room was haunted!

Some of my friends and I went to Jerome, Arizona for break.  We checked in to the Conner Hotel and had a blast.  Our room was haunted.  I waited and waited for the ghosts but I didn't get to see any.  One friend actually hid under the blankets when she found out our room was on the haunted list.

However, we did have a great time.  We climbed up and down stairs, up and down hills and were exhausted.  We ate at Jenny's Bordello.  Yes! it is a former bordello!  The food was fantastic.  In fact, the food in the entire town is to die for.  The shops are great and in October, there will be a ghost tour.  I am headed that way for that one.  Maybe I will get lucky this time.

Jerome, in case you don't know, is a very old mining town.  It has had a load of bodies to hide.  Lots of accidents and killings.  It sits on the side of a mountain.  I mean literally on the side of the mountain.  Buildings have been known to slide down the side.  In fact, the old jail slid down the mountain side and across a street.  It is still there.  I don't think I could live there.  It is a very scarey drive to get around the town.  I made everyone walk.  I wasn't looking forward to the curves and narrow roads.

If you are looking for a treat, head to Jerome.  The old hospital is also a hotel now.  The restaurant attached is called The Asylum.  Perfect.

The Conner has antique furnishings and atmosphere to boot.  It has the oldest family owned bar in Arizona and it is a real old fashioned saloon.  It was very educational too.  They have history everywhere.  We went to the old movie theater and watched a video about Jerome.  Wonderful!  Also museums to make it special.  The movie house has a museum and there is a mining museum.

What a great vacation.

It sounds like you had a great spring break.  I have never even heard of Jerome, but I think I might have to go there now.  Being able to walk to places is awesome, especially if the food is good.  I always tend to eat way too much on vacation.
