What are you most thankful for this year?

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING ! ! !

"I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers."

    Ephesians 1:16

There are so many things to be thankful for in my life, my Savior,

Jesus Christ, my son "Butterbean", my awesome friends and family

and of course the best job in the world with the best co-workers

and students that a teacher could ever ask for.

As our year comes closer to a wonderful end, I asked my students

Homework: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month -- Due September 30th

    Hispanic Heritage Month

    What is Hispanic Heritage Month?
    Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, 2006

In September 1968, Congress authorized President Lyndon B. Johnson to proclaim National Hispanic Heritage Week. The observance was expanded in 1988 to a month long celebration (Sept. 15 Oct. 15). America celebrates the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Sept. 15 was chosen as the starting point for the celebration because it is the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively. (http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/facts_for_features_special_editions/007173.html)

    Assignment:

Step One: Student will select a notable Hispanic from Fact Monster.com  http://www.factmonster.com/spot/hhm1.html as the subject of an essay.

Step Two: Student will complete a five paragraph essay, citing three positive traits or contributions to society by their subject.

Step Three: Student will provide  visual interpretation(full or half poster or PowerPoint) of their chosen subject including:

    • four images
    • brief biography
    • three positive traits

Step Three: Student will turn in assignment on
