Test Scores are in!

The local paper reported the scores (Using the entire state's scores)as Happy Days are here again. (even though locally, we are now on the failure list as  a district! But that wasn't mentioned. The local paper protects the locals from too much bad information about our district.) The state newspaper reported our failing local scores and compared them to the surrounding districts which faired better than we did. (The state newspaper doen't like our district, so they tell the truth if it makes us look bad.)So, now it is anybody's guess how all of this will be put to the teachers when we return. I suspect that we will all be chewed out daily as usual, because all of this has to be someone's fault. But, wait, there's more! This year we change the test format... so nobody will know what is going on. Except of course the newspapers.

This stuff about testing is so lame anyway! My school has scored consistently around 97-98% range on the state test and we were considered a school with an excellent rating.  That is until this year. We were supposed to bring up our scores by a percentage point and we didn't, so now we are considered a good overall rating with a below average ayp (adequate yearly progress) score! As hard as we all work, this is like a slap in the face! Wonder what happens if any school hits the 100% and can't go any higher? It's all so ridiculous.

Oh, another thing...Schools that had below average or failing scores who brought their scores up received a rating of good or excellent!

Yes, these ratings are a crock.  There was a school here that had the same problem.  They were already great and couldn't really go much higher so they received a lower rating.  It is stupid.  Just as testing is stupid.  Who are we comparing these kids to?  Each state has it's own test, so you can't compare the test scores of other states.  They don't take into consideration kids who are educationally deprived to begin with.  What a bunch of hooey.
