Be Happy List

I have decided that I can't focus on one topic for this blog post because I am feeling a little ADD.  But since I had such a good week at school I feel like it deserves a posting.  So I have decided to try something new... a compilation list of my favorite moments of the week that made me happy or laugh

I had a good week because
1) I got to say "we'll be bringing our A game" on the morning announcements today (talking about an upcoming soccer game, students vs teachers)  and 2) because I just joined the grants committee and hopefully will be getting some awesome things to go in my class's saltwater tank and some waders for field trips to the stream... which reminds me of 3) today I took my students to the stream down the road and we did some water testing and it is turning out to be a great way for students to collect real data over time 5) I am forming some good relationships with students and motivating them to learn, 6) because I had to excuse myself from my colleagues classroom when his student kept cracking jokes about Uranus (pun intended... there are just some jokes that never get old) and I could not hold myself together, I was laughing so hard I'm sure my face was red and I had leave... apologizing for my immaturity on the way out the door 7) because in addition to saying Uranus out loud in the science classroom, we also got to talk about the "butt chin" trait in genetics as seen on john travolta and my students got to have a good clean laugh about that and 8) because today some students in another class accidentally caught a a few baby snakes when they were catching crickets to feed to our bearded dragons and then accidentally dropped the snake in front of the lizard which tried to eat the snake which needless to say caused a little hysteria but ultimately everything was sorted out just fine and I laugh in hind-sight,   9) the week goes by so quickly I can hardly believe it and this is a 3-day weekend 10) because I decided to wear a cute outfit one day that consisted of a sweater dress, tights and boots, and finally 11) because happy hour on friday was a fun time to socialize with co-workers who I so often see for 2 minutes here and there but don't frequenlty get to actually hold many conversations with

hmmm... that was fun and amusing for me to write... I may continue with that little recap style in the future whenever my ADD is getting the best of me and I can't focus on one topic... its also a very efficient way of recording the little going-ons of my everyday teaching that are not quite deserving of an entire entry but I would like to be able to look back on again in the future and smile thinking, oh yeah, that was a funny moment...

This is what makes teaching fun, isn't it?  I just love moments like this.  Kids smile a lot and there are always humorous moments in classrooms.  What a change from my last job in Corporate America!
