Crystal Kennedy's Twitter Activity

This activity is assuming students would have access to Twitter. If your school is like ours, everything is blocked!

Keyboarding students could create a twitter account (once all keys have been learned). Each week students would be given a research topic with specific criteria (research the requirements for keeping gladiolas alive; what are some ways to keep moles out of your yard, etc). Each student must research the topic and post their findings on twitter, including the references of where the information was found. Students would be required to respond to at least three students finding's. At the end of the week, students could vote on the answer(s) they thought was best. Students could also visit the other web references posted by classmates.

Objectives:

Increase keying accuracy and familiarity with the keyboard

Incorporate academic and other CTE courses into keyboarding (depending on the topic)

Enhance student research skills

Assessment: The teacher would monitor the tweets and offer feedback. The teacher can determine if all criteria have been met by each student by reading the tweets.
