If you haven't downloaded the Windows Live Writer program yet, please do that first.
The installation process is very straight forward. After accepting the terms and conditions it only takes a minute or two and the completed screen is displayed. After closing that window, you may be prompted with a page from the Live spaces website showing you some of the extra content and plug-ins that are available. This is a great spot to find some of the new add-ons that are available, but for now let's get started with Windows Live Writer straight out of the box. So, fire up Windows Live Writer and let's get started. It should have created an icon on your start menu called "Window Live Writer (Beta)".
The first dialog box you will be prompted with is the
“Choose Blog Type” window. Select “Another weblog server” and hit the next
button. If you do not get this window
when you first open up Windows Live Writer, then choose “Weblog” and “Add
Weblog Account” from the drop down menus.

The next window is where you provide the URL to your blog home page. In the example below we are connecting to the "Announcements" blog. Replace it with your blog's name. (If you used special characters in your blog name during creation, we may have built a web friendly name to link to.) Make sure and verify the URL by clicking the "View Weblog" link before continuing.

The next window should be “Select Provider”. In the first drop down select “Community Server” that is the blogging engine that we are running at Teacher Lingo. The second box will be automatically populated for you, but we will need to change it a bit before continuing on.

Replace “<hostname>” with “teacherlingo.com” so the second box looks like this. When you are finished editing, hit the next button to move to the next step.

Windows Live Writer may take a few seconds as it connects to our servers to get a list of blogs that are available. Find your blog in the list and highlight it by clicking on it. Once it is selected, click on the Next button.

Now Windows Live Writer will connect to your individual blog
to detect your selected theme. This
detection process will enable Windows Live Writer to set its designer to look
and feel like your blog. (NOTE: If you in the future you choose a
different theme for your blog, you can tell Windows Live Writer to detect the
style again from the drop down menu)

Now that the configuration is complete, you are prompted to
give this account a name. It should
default to the display name of your blog.
You can change it if you like and it will not affect your blog sites
settings.

That’s it. You are
now ready to compose your first post with Windows Live Writer.
We will be adding some help documents in the future to
outline a few of the features of this program.
If you experience any problems connecting or posting to your blog,
please let us know via the forums.
