    APPROPRIATE ELEMENTARY WEBSITES

Does anyone have a list of child friendly web sites in various subjects that you created or have been created by your school system? I want to make computer time more educational but I simply don't have the time to search the web to create a list.

Our school subscribes to StarrMatica.  It has topic categorized lists of thousands of online resources as well as their own games, activities, and instructional animations. It is a subscription, but the money has been worth it since we use the site in our classrooms, in the computer lab, and the kids use it at home. Two of my favorites I found on their site are:  arcademicskillbuilders and visual fractions.

Thanks! I used the two sites with my kids and they love them!  Any reading sites?  :)

    http://www.quia.com/mc/94601.html for cause and effect

    http://readwritethink.org/materials/trading_cards/ for character traits

    http://www.harcourtschool.com/activity_collections_preview/predict_outcomes/3_predict.html for predicting

Those are a couple I have used with my kids.

There are probably 300 sites for reading comprehension concepts listed on StarrMatica depending on the concept you are working on......

    Have fun!

    Hi,

I posted a few reading sites a few days ago, but they haven't shown up:(  I don't know why?  Maybe they weren't allowed???

    Sorry!

I have quite a few llinks on my class website. Unfortunately, I cannot post it in public forums due to our technology agreement. If you can give me an e-mail address or add me as a friend I will gladly share it with you. I try to update is as often as I find useful links. I currently have links for math, science, comm. arts, social studies, and a few for teachers only.
