How to look for middle school jobs in another state?

I currently live in Georgia but may move soon.  I was wondering what are the best states to find teaching jobs. Where are the best paying jobs located?  I know it can take time but, How long does it take to get hired?  Do teaching certificates transfer over from one state to another?

I am not sure what states are the best states to find teaching jobs but I do know if you know the location you are moving to you can access the states department of education to do research. Teaching certificates as far as I know are not transferrable. Here in Hawaii all the teacher who moved here from the mainland had to take the states exam to be certified to tach here before accepting a job within the DOE and or public schools. I  do know at one time Hawaii was offering a bonus for teachers to teach here at certain school districts. I think the hiring process depends on the individual and if they pass the states exam.

Each state has it's own set of requirements, for example, Pa supposedly has the most hoops to jump through, there are more criminal and background checks that the applicant must complete, not the possible employer. Colorado has more observation hours required then any other state, but I am not sure if that is checked after being certified. I also believe that the Praxis 2 passing scores differ from state to state so you would want to look into that!

The easiest way to get all the info is to look into each individual dept of ed.

I have found there are two easy ways to zero in on open positions for teachers.  Using websites like careerbuilder or monster are the quickest but may also yield the least useful results.  I am searching for positions in Texas and I have found that by going to the state school board website you can find links to each individual school district and the positions they are looking for.

Many states offer reciprocity for teachers who are certified in neighboring states but I do not know if it is universal.
