Attention Teachers who paid into SS and a Teacher Pension

If you paid into Social Security for a large number of years as well as a teacher pension, the government is cheating you out of 2/3 of your Social Security benefits due to the WEP or Windfall Elimination Provision and/or the GPO or Government Pension Offset! There are many teachers, policemen and firefighters who worked at jobs that took money out of each and every paycheck for 35-40 years, then when they became teachers (or policemen of firefighters) even for a few years (12 in my case) and paid into a teacher pension, they are Penalized (!!) by losing many thousands of their SS benefits each year. Isn't this ridiculous? (I'm losing $9,600.00 annually). For those of us who are single this causes us much financial stress that we should not have.

These are ridiculous and unfair laws and must be repealed. Luckily there was a new bill written in January of this year (2019) called HR141.  Also the National Education Association has written a petition that supports the passage of this bill. We need all the signatures on this petition we can get.
    Please go to:

edadvocacy.nea.org and click on "Take Action" in the top bar; then scroll down to "Retirement Security" and see: "Cosponsor and support the Social Security Fairness Act of 2019 (HR141). Then please fill in your name, etc. to show that you're a real person and not a robot. It will then show the petition which you can read and then hit: " Submit". If the screen doesn't change, hit "submit" again.

Thanks for signing!! It seems that there are over 180 Congressmen who are supporting the repeal of these unfair laws and they take notice of a petition from the nea with all their constituents' signatures.
