    Should I worry?

I had my teacher observation the other day.  It seemed as if it went okay, the only two things that I need to work on was labeling my charts with the standard and having a better connection with the kids.  However, I asked the principal directly about if I needed to worry about the not for re-hire deadline of March 15th.  She stated "I haven't even thought about it yet, I'm taking it day to day".  In my view, this is an unacceptable answer.  She should have said "I haven't made any official decisions, but unofficially you are okay" if I am okay.  I'm only a second year teacher and I truly feel in the depths of my soul that she will not select me for re-hire, which could be the end of my dream job.  She also sides with students instead of trusting the teachers, have called to verify medical situations from my doctor (which is not permitted due to Hipa laws), and stated that due to what a child said, I was unprofessional, even though I disputed what the child said.  She doesn't TRUST me!  Technically, she can fire me at any time since I do not have tenure.  Now that another one of my co-workers has had to leave for an extended leave time, and they split the class, when she returns, they could tell me good-bye.  My thoughts are that she'll do this AFTER state wide testing.  After I worked my butt off and sacrificed my health to put the children I work for ahead of myself.  I have started to look for work elsewhere, but do you think I should worry about my job?

    Re: Should I worry?

I would do my very best to do a great job and try not to worry.  Come up with some new ideas that will really impress her.  Then, you will have done all you can do.  It's hard to know what others are thinking.  I do know that having a confident approach sometimes goes a long way.  If this job doesn't work out, you might find that you will find an even better dream job.  Good luck!

Are you connecting with kids?   If that is a problem area I can help.  Let me know what is going on.  I would love to help.
