Create your own Comic Strips in the Classroom

A wonderful teacher at my school told me that he had a few boys in his class that love to draw. In fact, they would love to draw all day. Now on the other hand, writing…not so much. I thought that one way to tackle this dilemma would be for his students to create comics and even comic books. It would incorporate a love and a skill and produce a product that the students could be proud of.

Here are some resources that I want to share with him.

I’m psyched about this new addition to my Art:Paint/Draw/Create online LiveBinder

PsykoPaint is so much fun. It’s amazing tools lets you paint your own uploaded photos. You can also chose photos from their collection as well as a blank canvas. Lots of wonderful opportunities for exploration here. Also check out the gallery…super nice!

EVERYONE will love this one. I can’t wait to get back to it!

“The mission of MY HERO is to use media and technology to celebrate the best of humanity and to empower young people to realize their own potential to effect positive change in the world.”

My Hero is a place where students can upload stories/biographies and artwork based on individuals they believe to be heroes. The heroes need not be famous to be added to the collection. Students can also learn about the heroes of others by perusing through their Directory of Heroes. They also have a new audio section where students can listen to Hero stories.

I have added My Hero to my “Write On! for Kids” and “Black History Month” LiveBinders.

New addition to Art: Paint, Draw, and Create, Online LiveBinder.

I have one word that describes Clay Yourself. FUN! Students can create characters or even themselves using this tool. Students can also use their stage name generator to create funny names and even create a script (ala mad libs style) that can be recorded and submitted to the site. Really nice site that is from Hotels.com.
