The teacher recorded the situation on her cell phone and the video has now gone viral. Learning to control our own behavior is a skill that may be tested at any time in the classroom. I would say this teacher passed with flying colors!

Life Long Learners

So many of us that have taken on the responsibility of teaching have deemed ourselves "life long learners." We live in a most exciting day when we have information literally at our fingertips. We can constantly be learning even as we drive from one place to another or washing our windows. My goal for this summer break is to take one or two of these courses from Berkeley. How lucky we are to have a first rate education at minimal cost!?

Check out what I studied last year.
What are you going to do to keep learning this summer? What other sources do you turn for information?
How Often Do We Miss the Beauty Around Us?

Sadly, you have probably not had the opportunity to do this. There is nothing more exhilarating for me than to talk with colleagues about how to improve education.

Often times these discussions would begin by reading a provocative article and then discussing ideas. I'd like to now recommend a short article to review and then hear your thoughts. The article is called What to Look for in a Classroom. While you read it, ask yourself which of the "Good Signs" do you consider to be most important and why. Would you add anything to the list? Share your thoughts below!

I am excited for begin this collaboration.

You. Are.
For substitute teachers, the phone is probably your alarm clock on a regular basis. With getting phone calls that early in the morning, there has to some funny stories. Do you have any humorous stories about being awakened early by a phone call? Share them as a comment below!

Another Look at Dyslexia

The Future of Education?

Here is a fascinating talk by Salman Kahn, who Bill Gates says is leading us to the future of education.
