Her-stories in History is an informative site where students can learn about women in history through short biographies. What makes this site special is that students can read the text as well as listen to the audio.

HIP Pocket Change is “The US Mint’s interactive official site for coin collecting kids. You can find out about the history of coin minting, what new quarters are due to be minted.”

Students can also learn about U.S. Coins by accessing their fun and engaging, educational games and interactives (categories below). They have some features that would work well with “Black History Month” and “President’s Day”.

The History Chef blog is my newest find for my U.S. Presidents LiveBinder.

Suzy Evans, J.D., Ph.D, has a blog that focuses on food and the U.S. Presidents. How unique. She began the blog last year when she was beginning to write a book about the presidents and heir favorite foods.

The History Chef provides recipes, fun facts, historical stories, and pictures, all centered around the American Presidents and food. Suzy tells stories in such a way that is engaging and fun for students and teachers alike.

Some post titles include:

James Monroe, Valley Forge, and Spoon Bread

Abraham Lincoln Gingerbread Men Cookies

Civil War Rations and Hardtack Crackers

I just added a neat resource to my ”US Presidents for Kids” LiveBinder. Have Fun with History has really interesting and unique ways to teach about the presidents. They have videos with real-time footage of the presidents who have been captured on film as well as movie portrayals of many presidents.They also have activities and articles to facilitate learning about the Presidents of the United States. This is a cool website that I have written about before here.

Have fun with History is a neat site that has an enormous library of U.S. subjects, videos, and activities that will delight you and your students. The videos are unique and fabulous and so are their activities.

Make sure you also check out their links to “activities by others”. Here you will find quality links to great sites with terrific interactive activities. I have found many things looking through these.

So if you are looking for anything to do with U.S. History I would stop here first. Top-notch and free, quality site for students and their curious teacher.
