Students select words from a word bank. Each word has a number on it to represent the number of syllables of that word. Students arrange their poem on 3 lines provided. Neat way to practice Haiku writing and creating.  </p> <p>Offline Classroom Application: This could also be done using word cards that students create and have added the number of syllables to. I love Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic and get teary-eyed with every reading of The Giving Tree.</p> <p>Tonight I want to share with you <strong><a href="http://shelsilverstein.com/play.asp">Shel Silverstein’s Official Site</a></strong>. If you use any of his books in your classroom you may want to include his site in your lesson.</p> <p>There are games, printables, lessons and activities that would be great to add to your plan.
