TinyEYE: Supporting English as a Second Language in the Classroom

“There are hundreds of languages in the world, but a smile speaks them all.”

Hi Everyone,

Communities are experiencing increased diversity in regards to new people, languages, and cultures. Furthermore, cultures that have already been in the community for generations may continue to maintain their first language, which might not be English. In addition, some families are fluent in more than one language and speak to their children in both languages. As a result, teachers find that they are welcoming children who may have moved from a far away land or who speak a language other than English.

I have attached a brief video and an article that offer information and strategies for supporting students and their families. In the spirit of learning, please feel free to share your ideas and experiences so I can post them for others to read.
