And How! is a follow up document to the Me Read? No Way! that was produced by the Ontario Ministry of Education to present 13 strategies to teachers for the purpose of improving boys' literacy in the province. The new document that was released in 2009 outlines the comparable boys' literacy trends in Canada, Britain and Australia, and gives best practices for the previous 13 strategies and for a newly added 14th strategy. The strategies and best practices will be outlined one per day for the next 14 days. . . . → Read More: Boys’ Literacy Solutions – 13 Best Practices

8 Best New Technologies – My Tools & Toys Conference Notes

After attending the O.S.S.T.F. Although I create numerous lesson materials for my classes, I also use this website to find lesson materials that are useful for the novels, grammar, reading skills or writing skills that I am teaching. There's a large number of listings on the site that are free because every TPT seller must post a free item to show the quality of his/her work. It's to the seller's advantage to provide an item that is high quality since the person downloading it for free may decide to follow the listings of that seller as a result. . . . → Read More: Teachers Pay Teachers – An Open Marketplace for Educators

Glogster – The ‘Poster Yourself’ Phenomenon

During the summer, I signed up for a free Glogster EDU account that I will be using this school year with three of my six classes as a pilot project within our school board. Since I have joined and played around with this Web 2.0 application, I believe that it is a great educational resource for teachers of English Literature and Language Arts. Teachers will find that it has useful critical thinking and creativity applications for any and all subjects. . . . → Read More: Glogster – The ‘Poster Yourself’ Phenomenon

My Class List of Web 2.0 Tools

Over the summer I have been making a number of lists of different Web 2.0 Tools that I would like to use in the classroom this year. I made the lists so that I would remember what tools were available whenever I am planning a lesson. I do have a Smartboard in my classroom, so there's great potential for demonstrating tools when teaching or using a tool to better present the learning material. Here's my list of current lists that can also be found on the "Resources" section of my site. You may want to bookmark it for future reference. I will continue to add to these sections as I find resources that I believe are meaningful and useful. . . . → Read More: My Class List of Web 2.0 Tools

DEATH BY PPT and other weak technology uses

Using computers or the internet in the classroom doesn't mean you have created a 21st Century learning environment.
