The Have Fun Teaching Web Site Presents: The Noun Video. This Noun Video will teach the basic definition of a common noun. A noun is a part of speech that names a person, place, or thing. The song will go over how a noun is a word that can be a person, place, thing or an idea. The noun movie will give examples of common nouns for people, places, and things and will also go over ideas being nouns.

Wear green and don't get pinched

When I was a kid, St. Patrick's Day was a really big deal. Kids who forgot to wear green to school were at the mercy of others all day long. Teachers today usually help out the kids by giving them some small green ribbon or something, but back then, you were usually on your own. This year St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday, so it isn't as big a deal. Looking at the History Channel website, I did find interesting facts about this holiday. There is even a video telling about the history of St. Patrick's Day. You do have to wait a minute to get past the AARP ad, but the video is very informative. For example, I learned that there have never been snakes in Ireland. Also, some people treat St. Patrick's Day as a religious day, and others celebrate their heritage. When I think about St. Patrick's Day, I think of parades and four leaf clovers. I also remember some pretty nasty pinches!

The website has a lot to offer. You can even test your knowledge by taking a quiz about Ireland. The main thing is to put on some green and enjoy the day!
