Tools & Toys Technology Conference in Toronto, Ontario this week, I have reflected on what I have learned as a result of attending this conference. This list is a reflection of what I have learned from the keynote speakers and workshop presenters in regards to what I believe would be specifically beneficial to English teachers; however, the tools and applications are applicable to other subject areas. . . . → Read More: 8 Best New Technologies – My Tools & Toys Conference Notes

Glogster – The ‘Poster Yourself’ Phenomenon

During the summer, I signed up for a free Glogster EDU account that I will be using this school year with three of my six classes as a pilot project within our school board. Since I have joined and played around with this Web 2.0 application, I believe that it is a great educational resource for teachers of English Literature and Language Arts. Teachers will find that it has useful critical thinking and creativity applications for any and all subjects. . . . → Read More: Glogster – The ‘Poster Yourself’ Phenomenon

My Class List of Web 2.0 Tools

Over the summer I have been making a number of lists of different Web 2.0 Tools that I would like to use in the classroom this year. I made the lists so that I would remember what tools were available whenever I am planning a lesson. I do have a Smartboard in my classroom, so there's great potential for demonstrating tools when teaching or using a tool to better present the learning material. Here's my list of current lists that can also be found on the "Resources" section of my site. You may want to bookmark it for future reference. I will continue to add to these sections as I find resources that I believe are meaningful and useful. . . . → Read More: My Class List of Web 2.0 Tools

Google Web 2.0 Tools – Calendar – Pros/Cons

Google Calendar is a useful Web 2.0 tool that can be used by teachers for informing parents and students about important dates and upcoming assignments. Calendars are important planning tools. Google Docs also has a spreadsheet calendar which I prefer for creating my printed classroom calendars for students. . . . → Read More: Google Web 2.0 Tools – Calendar – Pros/Cons
