looneyteachr's Personal Bio
A 25-year teaching veteran with a Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities and National Board Certification in Adolescent Social Studies, I have taught an array of subjects ranging from world history to algebra. For the first 23 years of my career, I taught at inner-city R. B. Stall High School in North Charleston, S.C. There, I was chosen as a model classroom teacher, a 2005 teacher of the year, and a Charleston County top-ten finalist. Ready for a new adventure, I signed on at Fort Dorchester H.S. where I taught in the social studies department until becoming a Social Studies Interventionist for the district this fall. My best practices workshops for high-school faculties and at High Schools That Work conferences have held standing-room-only crowds.
